5 Workers Killed in Elevator Crash at Construction Site
Yong-in, Kyonggi Province, Sept. 7 (Yonhap) -- Five woman workers were killed when an elevator crashed to the ground in an apartment building construction site here Tuesday afternoon.
The elevator, with five woman painters on board, fell some 30 meters to the ground off the 10th floor of the building under construction and all the painters, including Kang Ok-sun, 59, and Chang Yong-ok, 41, were killed on the spot.
The building is one of the 12 apartment buildings being constructed by Hanyang Construction Co. They will be completed in November.
Police are investigating into the cause of the elevator crash.(END)
