SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Yonhap) -- Actress Son Ye-jin will star in a new movie opposite Bae Yong-joon, who became a heartthrob of many Japanese women from the South Korean TV drama "Winter Sonata," the film's production company said Thursday.

Son will play Seo-yeong, a middle-school teacher who falls in love with the main character In-su (Bae) in the film to be directed by Huh Jin-ho, BlueStorm said.

The movie, tentatively titled "Outing," is a melodrama about a man and woman who are gradually engrossed in a dangerous love affair after experiencing tragic betrayal by their spouses.

"Son is an exciting actress who hides the feelings of a mature woman inside her pure and bright appearance as a girl in her 20s," Huh said. "I thought such attractiveness will make her the best fit for the role of Seo-young," he said.

Son, considered one of South Korea's leading romantic drama actresses, has starred in "Lover's Concerto" (2002), "The Classic" (2002), "Crazy First Love" (2003) and "A Moment to Remember" (2004).

For most of Bae's Asian fans, "Outing" is expected to be the most anticipated film of next year.

The production company plans to begin filming next month for domestic release in September.
