SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Aug. 14-20, 2008.
14 The North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says a national vocal contest was held at the Yunisang Concert Hall in Pyongyang from Aug. 11-13 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
14 The KCNA says Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Mohammad Shahta Zarab hosted a reception at the embassy in Pyongyang on Aug. 13 to observe the 55th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and the 63rd anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan.
14 The KCNA says a national scientific and technological presentation took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition hall on Aug. 12 and 13 in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
