Samsung provides world's largest cruise ship with electronics

SEOUL, Nov. 24 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday it has supplied TVs and large format display (LFD) monitors to the Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship.

Samsung provided the U.S. cruise ship with 5,200 liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, set up in the ship's restaurants and cabins, and 208 LFD monitors used for providing travel and service information.

"With cutting-edge technology and high brand value, Samsung was able to provide the luxurious cruise ship with electronics and solutions," said Eom Young-hoon, co-president of the consumer electronics division at the U.S. unit of the South Korean company.

The Oasis of the Seas, the newest ship of U.S. firm Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., will make its first voyage on Dec. 5 from Port Everglades in Florida. The world's largest cruise ship features a 1,400-seat movie theater, a mini-golf course, four swimming pools and theme parks.
