SEOUL, April 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has offered condolences to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk over the deaths of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and other national leaders in a plane crash in Russia, Lee's office said Saturday.

Lee sent a message to the Polish prime minister, saying he was "shocked" by the plane crash and expressing "profound condolences" to the Polish people, Lee's spokesman Park Sun-kyoo said.

"On behalf of the South Korean government and its people, I expressed profound condolences to the people of Poland," Lee was quoted as saying in the message, according to Park.

The presidential plane carrying the Polish president and the nation's top military and civilian leaders crashed as it landed in a thick fog in western Russia, with all on board perishing, according to foreign news reports.
