SEOUL, April 26 (Yonhap) -- Olympic figure skating gold medalist Kim Yu-na has set up a management company to act as her agent with her mother sitting as the CEO, Kim's legal representatives here said Monday.

"AT Sports," set up on April 20, will officially be inaugurated on May 1 after Kim's three-year contract with IB Sports expires on Friday, the law firm, Lee & Kim Partners, said. The company will exclusively arrange Kim's schedules for ice shows and charity events.

"IB Sports has been running many other businesses besides managing Kim. I have set up this company to satisfy what Kim Yu-na needs," Park Mi-hee, Kim's mother, said in a statement.

Kim is the company's major shareholder with her mother, who will be serving as the head of the firm.

The 19-year-old, a gold medalist at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, signed a three-year contract with IB Sports in 2007 when she finished third at her world championships debut. IB Sports had exclusive rights on every business deal including advertisements, sponsorships, and TV or movie appearances.

In recent years, Kim became a magnet for South Korean companies eager to plaster their ads with her name and image.

Another major South Korean sports celebrity, Park Ji-sung of Manchester United, established his own management company, JS Limited, in 2006, with his father, when a deal with his former agent FS Corporation expired.
