SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Yonhap) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-il appears to be traveling to China in what would be his second trip there this year, a senior South Korean government official said Thursday.

"Signs have been detected that Chairman Kim visited China early Thursday morning," the official said on the condition of anonymity. "We are still trying to grasp his exact destination and purpose of the visit."

Kim made a five-day trip to China in May, during which he had a summit with Chinese President Hu Jintao.
