GUANGZHOU, China, Nov. 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korea swept two fencing golds at the Guangzhou Asian Games on Thursday with a second victory by Kim Won-jin in the men's epee.

Kim edged China's Li Guojie 13-11 in the men's individual epee final at Guangda Gymnasium in southern Guangzhou, bringing home the second fencing gold medal on the first day of competition.

Kim won the event with a team gold at the Doha Asian Games four years ago.

Bronze medals went to Shogo Nishida of Japan and Yin Lianchi of China.

Earlier, Kim Hye-rim won the women's individual sabre title to become the first winner of the fencing competition that started on Thursday.

Kim, a Doha Asian Games silver medalist, beat Hong Kong's Au Sin Ying 15-7 in the gold medal match, clinching her first Asiad gold medal.

Her compatriot Kim Keun-hwa and Chinese Tan Xue shared bronze medals in the event.
