S. Korean bakery opens 2 stores in Indonesia

SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Yonhap) -- CJ Foodville Corp., South Korea's largest restaurant franchise, said Thursday that it has opened two bakeries in Indonesia in a bid to tap into Southeast Asian markets.

The company said its first Indonesian store of Tous Les Jours, CJ Foodville's bakery brand, started operations in downtown Jakarta on Friday last week. It also opened a second Tous Les Jours store on Wednesday in the Indonesian capital.

Both bakeries are under direct management of CJ Foodville, it noted.

CJ Foodville has stepped up efforts to expand its business in the Southeast Asian region, opening stores in Vietnam and the Philippines. It also reached franchise agreements with Cambodian and Malaysian companies in a way to increase its brand recognition.

Tous Les Jours has opened 42 stores abroad with around 1,300 stores in South Korea.

CJ Foodville is the restaurant operating arm of CJ Group, a South Korean food and media conglomerate.
