SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Ecuador will sign an agreement this week to strengthen the safety of fishery products being traded between the two countries, Seoul officials said Sunday.

The agreement to be signed on Monday will require fishery goods-processing facilities to be registered with their respective quarantine authorities before products are exported, the Animal, Plant and Fisheries Quarantine and Inspection Agency said.

If facilities in the other country prove to be "unfit" to process fishery goods, imports could be temporarily suspended. South Korea currently has such a deal with China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Russia.
