'Tower' exceeds 5 million mark in attendance
SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean disaster film "Tower" topped the 5 million mark in audience number, official data showed Wednesday.
Starring Kim Sang-kyung, Son Ye-jin and Seol Kyung-gu, the movie had drawn an audience of 5.01 million as of Tuesday since its release to local market on Dec. 25, according to the Korean Film Council that tracks local box-office figures.
It became the first Korean film to hit the milestone this year while the Hollywood musical film "Les Miserables" was the first movie to pass the barrier, drawing 5.4 million viewers as of Tuesday.
"Tower" has been praised by movie critics for its excellent computer graphics and visual effects.
