High-level inter-Korean talks called off: officials

All Headlines 19:51 June 11, 2013

SEOUL, June 11 (Yonhap) -- High-level inter-Korean talks, scheduled to be held in Seoul within less than 24 hours, have been called off, the government said Tuesday.

The government-to-government talks, the first of their kind in six years, were scheduled to be held Wednesday amid high expectations that the dialogue could lead to easing tension on the volatile Korean Peninsula.

No clear reason was given for the action but it followed reports of disagreement between the two sides over the composition of their delegates, especially the level of their chief negotiators.
