SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from July 11-17, 2013.

11 North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visits the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in Pyongyang shortly before its opening. He called for making good preparations for the opening.

11 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Kim Jong-un received a congratulatory message from Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz on July 2 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the DPRK's (North Korea's) "victory" in the Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War/ June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).

11 Rodong Sinmun says the DPRK-China friendship is an unbreakable one forged with militant fraternity in the days of the arduous struggle in an article dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

11 The KCNA says DPRK gymnast Hong Un-jong bagged a gold medal in the female long horse event of the 27th Universiade held in Kazan, Russia, on July 10.

11 Colorful events take place in the North with a theme set by the U.N. Population Fund on the occasion of World Population Day.

11 The DPRK Embassy in Beijing hosts a reception to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

12 The DPRK Taekwondo team led by Kim Kyong-ho, the chairman of the (North) Korean Taekwondo Committee and chairman of the Asian Taekwondo Federation, leaves Pyongyang to take part in the 18th World Taekwondo Championships to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

12 The KCNA says Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Great Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk sent large floral baskets to the DPRK Embassy in Phnom Penh on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the death of DPRK founder Kim Il-sung.

12 The KCNA says the DPRK is seething with preparations for significantly celebrating the 60th anniversary of the "victory" in the Korean War.

12 The KCNA says that downpour has continued in the central areas of the DPRK, causing flooding in the area.

12 Choe Ryong-hae, the director of the General Political Bureau of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA), visits the Revolutionary Museum in the historic site associated with the Korean War.

13 The KCNA says the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea on July 11 sent a notice to South Korea on the South's rejection of working-level talks for the resumption of tours to Mount Kumgang on North's east coast.

13 The KCNA, in a commentary, calls for the disbandment of South Korea's National Intelligence Service, claiming that the South Korean authorities should apologize for making public the minutes of an inter-Korean summit talks in 2007.

13 Kim Yong-nam, the president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a greeting to Filip Vujanovic, the president of Montenegro, on the occasion of its national day.

14 The KCNA says Choe Thae-bok, the chairman of the SPA, on July 12 sent a congratulatory message to Sidarto Danusubroto upon his appointment as speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia.

14 The KCNA says the DPRK permanent representative at the U.N. said in an interview with foreign reporters on July 10 that to dismantle the illegal and ghost-like "U.N. Command" is a prerequisite to defusing tensions and ensuring peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the Asia-Pacific region.

14 The KCNA says Kim Il-sung unfolded Grand Blueprint for Postwar Rehabilitation and Construction during the Fatherland Liberation War.

15 Rodong Sinmun, in an editorial, calls on people to more dynamically advance to greet July 27, "the day of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, demonstrating the spirit of uninterrupted innovations and progress under the leadership of Kim Jong-un."

15 The KCNA says an enlarged session of the plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet was held recently and discussed the issue of carrying out the important tasks set forth by Kim Jong-un.

15 Avia Baatarhuyag, the director general of the Mongolian News Agency Montsame, arrives in Pyongyang.

15 Lundeg Purevsuren, the national security and foreign policy adviser to the president of Mongolia, and his party arrive in Pyongyang.

15 The third round of working talks between the authorities of the two Koreas are held in the Kaesong Industrial Zone to normalize operations at the factory park.

16 Kim Jong-un provides field guidance to the Mushroom Farm built by Farm No. 1116 under KPA Unit 534.

16 Talks between the delegation of the DPRK-EU Friendship Parliamentary Group and the delegation for relations with the Korean Peninsula of the European Parliament were held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

17 South and North Korea open their fourth round of working-level talks on the resumption of the Kaesong Industrial Park, which has remained suspended since early April in the North Korean border city of Kaesong.
