SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said Monday it has sent inspectors to a fire-damaged data center run by a Samsung affiliate to prevent any data breach.

A fire erupted at the center operated by Samsung SDS Co. in Gwacheon, on the outskirts of Seoul, just past noon Sunday. The blaze was brought under control in the evening. No casualties were reported.

The incident was still hampering services of Samsung's financial affiliates on Monday, knocking out a server and causing interruptions to online credit card services.

Samsung SDS, an IT service affiliate of Samsung Group, manages data storage servers for the group's companies.

Online services of Samsung Card Co. were not available due to the server disruption, and the inconvenience is likely to continue until the server is restored, the FSS said.

Customers reported they couldn't access the Samsung Card website or smartphone application, and were unable to make online payments.

The card company is running a backup server to make its offline services available as usual, the FSS said.

Samsung Group's other financial affiliates, including Samsung Life Insurance Co., Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co. and Samsung Securities Co., were operating normally because they have backup storage devices or are using data centers in Seoul and other regions, according to the FSS.
