SEOUL, March 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean football forward Park Chu-young will rejoin his former club in the domestic league, officials said Tuesday.

FC Seoul in the first-division K League Classic said they have signed the 29-year-old to a three-year deal, though financial terms weren't disclosed. Park will soon join the team in practice. The 2015 K League Classic season opened last weekend.

Park will return to the team where he began his professional career in 2005.

Park was named the K League's Rookie of the Year that season after netting a league-high 18 goals. He had 33 goals in 91 matches for FC Seoul before moving to AS Monaco in the top French league in 2008. He enjoyed a solid stint there and then moved to Arsenal in the Premier League.

His career quickly went downhill since that move to London. Park was mostly confined to the bench and was later loaned to Celta Vigo in Spain and Watford in England's second division, with limited success.

Park had a disastrous World Cup last summer in Brazil, and it was during the tournament that Arsenal decided not to retain the forgotten forward. He spent a few months without a team before latching on to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab, which deemed him expendable after four unsuccessful months.

Last week, FC Seoul head coach Choi Yong-soo said the club was interested in reacquiring Park, though it appeared "difficult" to bring him back in the near future.

Choi has lacked a front-line striker since the departure of Dejan Damjanovic, who signed with Beijing Guoan after leading the K League Classic in scoring in 2013.
