SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, said Wednesday that it will produce a three-dimensional animation for children featuring its vehicles in a move aimed at appealing to future potential consumers with friendlier images.

The animation tentatively titled "Power Battle Watchcar" will be jointly produced, marketed and distributed by Innocean Worldwide, CJ E&M and SAMG Animation, according to the automaker.

Watchcar in the animation refers to a mini-car that its lead character controls through his watch.

The animation will be made in a series consisting of episodes, each of which will be 11 minutes long. It will be aired on TV during the first half of next year, the company said with its special edition to be unveiled during the second half of this year.

The animation will feature challenges, adventure and friendship that a state-of-the-art automobile and a boy go through together in order to win the "battle league" championship.

The car is modeled after the Blue-Will, a concept plug-in hybrid electric car that Hyundai Motor unveiled during a motor show in 2009, the company said. Characters shaped after the Avante and Sonata will also appear in the animation.

Hyundai Motor said that it is pushing to air the animation in other countries as well and work on developing toys, mobile applications, books and other related content.

"Through the animation in which a Hyundai Motor vehicle is a main character, we expect to make our company's image friendlier to children around the world, while at the same time contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of local companies in the character market that grows on the Korean wave," the company said.
