Radar detects N. Korea shelling S. Korean military along western border

SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's counter-battery radar detected North Korea firing shells at the South Korean military along the western border Thursday, the Defense Ministry said.

"A trajectory of supposedly North Korean military shells has been detected by (South Korea's) anti-battery radar" at 3:52 p.m., a ministry official said.

Still, no damage has been reported since the detection, the official said.

South Korea has not fired back, he said, adding that the ministry is trying to confirm the details.
