SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- IU's new song "Twenty-three" topped local music charts Friday, just hours after her latest EP "CHAT-SHIRE" hit digital retailers.

The album's title track was No. 1 on Melon, Genie, Mnet.com and five other music charts, as of 7:30 a.m. Three other songs on the album -- "The Shower," "Shoes" and "Glasses" -- were also among the top 10.

IU participated in the making of all seven songs featured on the album, her agency, Loen Entertainment, said.

"CHAT-SHIRE" came out at midnight Thursday and is IU's first album in about 1 1/2 years.

The 23-year-old last put out "A Flower Bookmark," an album featuring cover versions of old Korean pop songs, in 2014 on May 16, her birthday.

IU recently made headlines after admitting to dating Chang Ki-ha, the vocalist of the indie band Kiha & The Faces.

She is scheduled to hold a live talk show discussing her new album on the smartphone app V at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
