Lotte Giants' Hwang Jae-gyun to be posted for MLB clubs

All Headlines 17:59 November 26, 2015

SEOUL, Nov. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korean baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun is expected to be posted for major league teams, the Major League Baseball (MLB) website said Thursday.

The Lotte Giants third baseman has hit 88 home runs and driven in 481 runs while batting .280 during the nine seasons he has played in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), MLB.com said.

His two best seasons have been 2014 when he hit .321 in 128 games and this past season when he drove in 97 runs.

Major league clubs will have four days to submit a bid in the silent auction, if the posting becomes official. The Giants will have four days to decide whether to accept or reject the highest bid.

Hwang's posting was made possible after his teammate Son Ah-seop came up short in his pursuit of an MLB career.

KBO teams are only allowed to ship one player to an overseas club per offseason.
