SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea on Thursday condemned a terrorist attack in Pakistan that left more than 20 people dead at a university.

Islamic militants gunned down students and teachers at Bacha Khan University in the northwestern town of Charsadda on Wednesday, killing 21 people, according to reports. A faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

"Our government can't contain our shock and anger, and we strongly condemn such terrorist acts," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Offering condolences to the victims' families and the Pakistani people, the ministry pledged the South Korean government's efforts to eradicate terrorism, an "inhumane crime against humanity that cannot be justified under any circumstances."
