SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) -- North Korea fired several short-range missiles toward the East Sea on Thursday, hours after the United Nations adopted its harshest resolution punishing the communist country ever for its recent nuclear and long-range rocket tests, a Defense Ministry official said.

The missiles were fired from Wonsan at around 10:00 a.m., ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun said in a briefing. The type and the number of missiles fired are under examination, he said. The official said the missiles all fell into the sea.
