S. Korean shares nearly flat in late morning trade

SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean shares traded nearly flat late Thursday morning as investors took to the sidelines amid increased market volatility.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 0.06 point to 1,948.57 as of 11:20 a.m.

Builders traded higher, with Hyundai Engineering & Construction advancing 3.05 percent and Daelim Industrial moving up 2.77 percent. Daewoo Engineering & Construction added 7.82 percent.

Logistics stocks also gained ground, with Hyundai Glovis increasing 0.26 percent and Korean Air edging up 4.58 percent. Asiana Airlines advanced 3.17 percent.

The local currency was changing hands at 1,219.4 won against the greenback, up 8.1 won from Wednesday's close.
