SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Thailand will hold a high-level policy consultative meeting next Monday in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to bolster cooperation in the defense industry, infrastructure development and other areas, Seoul's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

First Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam and his Thai counterpart Apichart Chinwanno will hold the senior-level meeting for the first time in six years.

Lim will arrive in the country on Sunday for a four-day visit.

"Vice Minister Lim will visit Thailand to discuss ways to strengthen practical bilateral cooperation in politics, economy and other sectors at the planned meeting," ministry spokesperson Cho June-hyuck said during a regular press briefing.

In particular, Lim plans to ask the Thai government to support South Korean businesses seeking to advance into the country's infrastructure construction market, the spokesperson said.

Also on the agenda is the bilateral cooperation in enforcing the newly adopted U.N. Security Council resolution slapping tough sanctions on North Korea for its Jan. 6 nuclear test and Feb. 7 long-range rocket launch.
