S. Korean shares down 0.29 pct in late morning trade

SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean shares traded 0.29 percent lower late Friday morning on losses from technology and automobile shares.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 5.72 points to 1,952.45 as of 11:20 a.m.

Tech shares continued to remain sluggish, with Samsung Electronics remaining unchanged and top chipmaker SK hynix losing 0.16 percent. LG Electronics moved down 2.68 percent.

No. 1 carmaker Hyundai Motor shed 1.69 percent, and its smaller sister Kia Motors dropped 1.36 percent. Hyundai Mobis decreased 0.79 percent.

The local currency was changing hands at 1,212.3 won against the greenback, up 2.3 won from Thursday's close.
