Jang Ha-na reaches No. 5 in world golf rankings after LPGA win
SEOUL, March 7 (Yonhap) -- Fresh off her second LPGA Tour win of the season, South Korean Jang Ha-na reached No. 5 in the latest world rankings released Monday.
Jang is the second-highest Korean in the rankings after climbing five spots to reach the top five. Park In-bee remained at No. 2.
Jang won the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore on Sunday. It was her second victory of the season, and she is the first LPGA golfer to pick up multiple wins in 2016.
There are four more South Koreans in the top 10: Amy Yang (No. 6), Kim Sei-young (No. 7), Chun In-gee (No. 8) and Ryu So-yeon (No. 10).
They're in a dogfight for spots on the South Korean team for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where golf will be contested for the first time in 112 years. Those ranked among the top 15 are eligible, but there's a limit of four players per country.
If Olympic eligibility ended Monday, Chun, the 2015 U.S. Women's Open champion, and Ryu, the 2011 U.S. Women's Open winner and former LPGA Rookie of the Year, would be on the outside looking in.
