SEOUL, March 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean singer-actress Hyeri is making a favorable recovery from meningitis, her talent agency said on Monday.

Hyeri, the heroine of tvN's television series "Reply 1988," has been hospitalized since Sunday, shortly after being diagnosed with meningitis.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and the spinal cord, which can cause fever, headache, confusion and vomiting. The fatality rate differs depending on the cause of infection.

"I'm told that (Hyeri's) condition is getting better, although she will have to stay hospitalized at least for the rest of the week," Seo Hye-mi, a key staffer of Dream Tea Entertainment, told Yonhap News Agency by phone.

"(Today's) photoshoot was called off, till her condition gets better. Hyeri's health is what matters the most, at this moment."

The entertainment agency did not detail the doctor's diagnosis, but said Hyeri will have to make adjustments to her schedule after fully recovering.

Earlier on Saturday, the singer wrongfully thought she was down with a flu and excused herself from the special concert featuring her and other "Reply 1988" cast members in Seoul on the day.
