S. Korea, Texas ink deal on professional engineers
SEOUL, March 10 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean government signed an accord on Thursday with the U.S. state of Texas on professional engineers.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning struck a mutual recognition agreement with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, a follow-up to the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement.
The Korean Professional Engineers Association is another signatory of the document.
The agreement provides high-profile South Korean engineers with opportunities to work in Texas and expand their experience.
South Korea has been campaigning to enhance the national competitiveness of the engineering industry.
"This accord is expected to raise the international stature of local professional engineers and increase overseas demand for them," the ministry said.
It added it would push for similar deals with other U.S. states such as California and Oregon.
