Go match against Google AI enjoys high viewer ratings
SEOUL, March 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Go player Lee Se-dol's fourth showdown against Google's artificial intelligence program AlphaGo registered a real-time rating of 5.71 percent, a rating measurement company said Sunday.
Lee finally collected his first win against AlphaGo on Sunday in 180 moves after playing nearly 4 hours and 44 minutes. The score at the special five-round Go tournament named the Google DeepMind Challenge Match is now 3-1.
The 5.71 percent rating for the match aired live by KBS, South Korea's public broadcaster, is twice as high as the 2.31 percent posted in the same time slot last week, according to the ATAM, which measures television viewers' ratings.
ATAM said it measured a real-time rating on 700 households in Seoul and its adjacent metropolitan areas.
