Renault Samsung's March sales up 13.5 pct
SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motors Co., the local unit of French auto firm Renault S.A., said Friday that its March car sales jumped 13.5 percent on-year, helped by strong sales of its newly launched SM6 sedan here.
The automaker said in a press release that it sold a total of 24,237 units last month, compared with 21,347 units a year earlier.
Behind the hike was strong domestic sales, which expanded 70.5 percent. In particular, sales of the SM6 that was launched earlier this year came to 6,751 units, a marked growth from the previous month's 287 units.
Its overseas sales, however, shrank 8.7 percent on-year to 14,002 units.
During the first three months, its cumulative sales grew 1.5 percent to 54,583 units from a year earlier, the company said.
