SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) -- The ruling Saenuri Party's approval rating has edged down while the main opposition party gained some support as the parliamentary elections near, a poll showed Monday.

The findings released by local pollster Realmeter showed 37.1 percent of people approved of how the ruling Saenuri Party is doing as of last week, down a marginal 1.2 percentage points from a week earlier.

Meanwhile, the main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea's approval rating sat at 26.2 percent, up a marginal 1.3 percentage points.

The poll attributed the dip for the Saenuri to the division of the conservative bloc due to the party's factional feud which led to veteran lawmakers defecting to run as independents for the April 13 elections.

The splinter opposition People's Party received 14.8 percent support the Realmeter poll showed, up a marginal 0.8 percentage points from a week earlier.

The telephone survey was conducted on 2,528 adults between Monday and Friday last week and had a margin of error of plus or minus 1.9 percentage points.
