SEOUL, April 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean boy band BTOB thanked their fans as they celebrated their first win for their latest release, the group's management agency said on Thursday.

The seven-member act snagged the first place award for its new EP "Remember That" on "Show Champion," a weekly music show run by terrestrial television network MBC, which aired on Wednesday night.

"This is totally unexpected. I'd like to thank my colleagues in Cube Entertainment and my loving crew from Melodie (fan club)," BTOB leader Eunkwang said.

"Remember That" was released on March 28 as the title track of the new EP of the same name with seven tracks total.

It is the third ballad the idol group has won an award for, along with "It's Okay and "Way Back Home."

Since its debut in 2012 with digital EP "Insane," BTOB has grown in the K-pop scene with its trademark energetic dance moves and sprightly vibe, which earned the band the nickname "beagle-dols," a combination of the words "beagle" and "idols."

The K-pop band is slated to vie for the top slot on MCountdown, a weekly music show on cable network Mnet, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
