SEOUL, April 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean shares traded 0.68 percent lower late Friday morning, tracking overnight losses in Wall Street.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 13 points to 1,960.19 as of 11:20 a.m.
Market heavyweights traded mixed.
Top market cap Samsung Electronics fell 1.89 percent, and chipmaker SK hynix rose 0.56 percent.
Top automaker Hyundai Motor dropped 0.34 percent, while AmorePacific, the country's top cosmetics maker, gained 1.78 percent.
POSCO, the country's top steelmaker, dipped 1.08 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,156.75 won against the greenback, down 5.35 won from the previous session's close.
