SEOUL, April 11 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's top wire service, inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the country's road traffic authority on Monday to improve the local safety culture and strengthen cooperation and information exchanges.

Yonhap's CEO Park No-hwang and Shin Yong-sun, chief director of the Road Traffic Authority (KoRoad), signed the agreement at the newswire's headquarters in central Seoul. Under the pact, Yonhap will promote KoRoad's various campaigns designed mainly to decrease traffic accidents, while the authority, in turn, will help the media outlet report on issues related to road safety.

The MOU also includes a possible future partnership on content sharing.

"The MOU will be very helpful for the agency in boosting campaigns to reduce traffic accidents and protect people's lives and assets." Shin said. KoRoad has 10 traffic-related networks nationwide.

Park also said the agreement will help the two companies work toward fostering a better traffic culture, which will contribute to a safer and happier society.
