Workers' average length of service estimated at 12 yrs: survey

SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Workers at leading businesses in South Korea stay at the same firm for an average of 12 straight years, a survey showed Thursday.

According to the survey by online job portal Saramin of the latest business data of the top 100 companies, workers stayed for the longest average time of 21 years at SK Energy Co. before leaving for another job or retiring.

Petrochemical maker Yeochun NCC Co. came next with a continuous working time of 19.8 years, trailed by auto giant Kia Motors Corp. with 19.6 years and telecom operator KT Corp. with 19.3 years.

Men tend to stay at the same firm longer than women do.

The survey showed male employees work at the same company for an average of 14.1 years, compared with 9.3 years for women.
