Samsung Electronics vice chairman chosen to lead display affiliate
SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) -- A vice chairman of Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea' s tech giant, will concurrently lead its display panel-making affiliate, company officials said Friday, in an apparent move to maximize synergy.
Kwon Oh-hyun, 64, was chosen as chief executive officer of Samsung Display Co. in a shareholders meeting held earlier in the day, the officials said.
He is currently spearheading Samsung Electronics' chip-making division and fledgling automotive device business.
Kwon has been credited with helping Samsung Electronics rise to become one of the top global chip-making companies by spending much of his career in the area since 1980s.
