CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa becomes first foreign model for Chinese campaign
SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- Jung Yong-hwa of the South Korean boy band CNBLUE has become the first non-Chinese celebrity to promote a Chinese state campaign, his talent agency said Wednesday.
Jung will promote "Power to Go," a fundraising campaign launched by Chinese actor Chen Kun, now in its sixth year, FNC Entertainment said.
"Power to Go" invites celebrities and volunteers to participate in a silent march in remote villages for a week to raise donations for various charity projects.
Jung was chosen for his popularity in Chinese-speaking countries, which organizers said would help draw people's attention to the campaign.
Jung has remained No. 1 on the Gaon Weibo Chart run by the Chinese social media website Weibo for 68 straight weeks since November.
He is currently filming the Chinese movie "Emperors Cook Up a Storm," in which he stars as a chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
