SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean tech firm LG Electronics Inc. on Friday said it has signed an agreement with the country's cultural agency to sponsor promotion projects for the nation's cultural assets.

Under the deal, LG will promote various cultural assets, such as palaces and castles, through advertisements on Times Square billboards in New York, it said.

"LG will fulfill its social responsibility by actively participating in preserving cultural assets," Chairman Jung Do-hyun said.

LG said it also donated 10 robot vacuum cleaners to the Cultural Heritage Administration to be used for the maintenance of Changdeok Palace in downtown Seoul.

"LG's sponsorship will greatly help the agency promote our cultural assets and share common human values," said Na Sun-hwa, director of the administration.
