Overseas Korean community leaders to meet in Seoul in October

SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- The Overseas Koreans Foundation said Thursday that it will invite participants to the 2016 World Korean Community Leaders' Convention to be held in Seoul in October.

Hundreds of Korean community leaders from some 80 countries are expected to participate in the Oct. 4-7 convention to discuss outstanding issues related to overseas Korean communities around the world, it said.

During the forthcoming meeting there will be a variety of events including a policy forum on Korean peace, exemplary cases of Korean community operations overseas and photography exhibitions, the foundation tasked with supporting millions of Koreans living outside of South Korea said.

Participants will also hold a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of World Korean Day.

Applications for participation will be available until June 30 at South Korean diplomatic missions abroad.
