S. Korean shares down in late morning trading

SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean shares traded lower late Friday morning, with tech and financial shares suffering losses on profit-taking.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 6.45 points, or 0.32 percent, to 2,017.72 as of 11:20 a.m.

Large caps traded mixed with market kingpin Samsung Electronics falling 1.26 percent, and global chipmaker SK hynix slipping 0.17 percent.

AmorePacific, the largest cosmetics maker, dropped 4.01 percent.

In contrast, top automaker Hyundai Motor remained unchanged, and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors traded 0.32 percent higher.

POSCO, the No.1 steelmaker, rose 0.69 percent.

Naver, the operator of the country's top Internet portal, fell 0.14 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,161.70 won against the U.S. dollar, down 5.7 won from the previous session's close.
