SEOUL, June 22 (Yonhap) -- North Korea launched what appears to be a Musudan intermediate-range ballistic missile from its east coast early Wednesday morning, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

"The North launched an unidentified missile from areas near Wonsan at around 5:58 a.m.," the JCS said in a brief release.

Sources said the missile may have been Musudan, whose previous four test-launches all ended in failure.

Whether the Wednesday test was successful was not immediately known.
