SEOUL, June 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korean baseball club SK Wyverns announced their signing of Dominican left-hander Braulio Lara Thursday.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) club said Lara has agreed to a US$230,000 deal. He replaces American lefty Chris Seddon, who was waived by the Wyverns Wednesday.

Lara, 27, is a career minor leaguer with a record of 33-42 and a 4.63 ERA in 241 appearances.

He had been pitching for the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats, this season, going 1-1 with a 3.90 ERA in 25 appearances, none of them starts. He had 25 strikeouts against 13 walks in 27 2/3 innings for Sacramento.

Lara joins Merrill Kelly in the Wyverns' rotation. The KBO clubs are allowed to carry up to three foreign players, with a maximum two pitchers.

The Wyverns said Lara can touch 157 kilometers per hour (98 miles per hour) with his fastball and mixes it with a slider, curve and changeup.
