SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korean weightlifter Im Jyoung-hwa will move up to the bronze medal in the women's 48kg at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, after the event's silver medalist failed a doping test.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC), based in Lausanne, Switzerland, said Friday (local time) Sibel Ozkan of Turkey has been disqualified from the 2008 Olympics and has been ordered to return her silver medal in the lightest female division at the competition. Reanalysis of her samples from 2008 found the presence of stanozolol, an anabolic steroid and a banned substance.

The IOC's decision is effective immediately.

Im had finished fourth in Beijing. She and the bronze medalist, Chen Wei-Ling of Chinese Taipei, had cleared the same total weight, 196kg, but Chen got the bronze because she weighed 500g lighter.

The change will bring South Korea's weightlifting medal tally to two gold, one silver and one bronze at Beijing. Overall, South Korea will be credited with 13 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze, good for seventh place.
