S. Korea, Iran to enhance literary exchanges
SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state-run literary agency said Wednesday that it will sign an agreement with its Iranian counterpart next month to increase literary exchanges between the two countries.
The Literature Translation Institute of Korea will sign a memorandum of understanding with Hozeh Honari, an organization affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Culture and regulating artistic and cultural activities, on Oct. 1.
The signing, a follow-up to the "South Korea-Iran literary night" event held in Tehran timed to coincide with President Park Geun-hye's visit to Iran in May, aims to enhance mutual understanding through cultural exchanges.
With the agreement, the countries now look forward to more vigorous interchanges by translating and publishing quality literary works produced in each other's country and co-hosting various literary events.
The Iranian institution is comprehensively in charge of various artistic segments, including fine arts, music, film and publishing. It runs its own publishing house, which translates diverse works of literature into foreign languages.
