All News 17:11 September 28, 2016

SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- A magnitude 3.1 aftershock jolted the country's southern city of Gyeongju on Wednesday, South Korea's meteorological agency said, a few weeks after two strong earthquakes hit the city.

The aftershock took place at 4:34 p.m., with the epicenter located some 9 kilometers southwest of the historical city, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).

No damage or casualties have been reported, the weather agency said.

On Sept. 12, the city, located some 371 km southeast of Seoul, was rocked by two quakes, one of which was a magnitude 5.8, the strongest to hit the Korean Peninsula to date.

Wednesday's quake was one of the stronger aftershocks among 440 tremors detected so far, since the two major quakes hit the country, the meteorological agency said.
