Baseball's postseason schedules announced

SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean baseball postseason will start off next Monday with a wild card game, with the championship Korean Series kicking off on Oct. 29.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced schedules for the postseason on Wednesday. The regular season will wrap up on Saturday, and the fourth- and fifth-ranked teams in the 10-club league will meet in the wild card contest next Monday.
The LG Twins and the Kia Tigers are battling for fourth place. The Twins are at 70-70-2 (wins-losses-ties) with two games remaining, holding a one-game lead on the Tigers, who are 69-71-1 with three games left.
The fourth seed will host the wild card game and will only need a win or a tie in the first game to advance to the next round. The fifth seed must win two games to move on.
The top three clubs have been determined. The Doosan Bears have won the pennant and earned the bye to the Korean Series. The NC Dinos will finish second and will advance straight to the second round of the playoffs.
The Nexen Heroes have secured the third spot and will meet the winner of the wild card game in the first round.
The first two rounds will be best-of-five, and the Korean Series is best-of-seven.
Ties will be declared after 15 innings. Games will start at 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on weekends.
If the Korean Series goes the distance, Game 7 will be on Nov. 6 at the Bears' home, Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
