PM meets Thai counterpart, vows to expand ties

SEOUL, Oct. 11 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn met his Thai counterpart on Tuesday, exchanging ideas expanding ties in economy and education, as well as latest updates in the inter-Korean issues.

During his meeting with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Hwang discussed on expanding economic exchanges especially in infrastructures and defense industries to bolster ties between Seoul and Bangkok.

The two also talked about North Korea-related issues, amid the rising tension in the Korean Peninsula following latest provocations by Pyongyang.

Seoul and Bangkok also clinched memorandum of understandings on cooperating on education and railroad development.

The meeting came on the sidelines of Hwang's participation at the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). The prime minister is set to arrive in Seoul on Wednesday.
