SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Coast Guard said on Saturday it has seized two Chinese boats for violating the western sea border.

The Coast Guard seized two 100-ton Chinese fishing boats which entered South Korean waters off Gunsan, 274 km southwest of Seoul, to catch 4 tons of anchovies, a spokeswoman said.

"A total of 30 fishermen, including two captains, were on board. The ships and the fishermen are scheduled to be brought to the port of Gunsan on Sunday morning for an investigation," she said.

Under the revised laws, the captains could face up to 300 million won (US$260,000) in fines. If they fail to pay the fines, their boats will be confiscated.
