SEOUL, Feb. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean football champions FC Seoul said Wednesday they've acquired Brazilian attacker Mauro Job Pontes Junior.

Seoul, the 2016 K League Classic champions, said they've signed the 27-year-old, better known as Maurinho here, for the 2017 season. The details of his contract weren't revealed.

Maurinho will enter his second season in South Korea. Last year, he played with Jeonnam Dragons FC but failed to score in seven appearances.

Seoul said they selected Maurinho to boost their attack with existing strikers like Park Chu-young and Dejan Damjanovic. The six-time K League champions said Maurinho has the speed and skills to penetrate defenses.

"We saw his talent when we faced Jeonnam last year," the club said in a release. "We think the player has enough talent to compete in the K League."

Seoul head coach Hwang Sun-hong said he will use Maurinho on the wings. The former Criciuma and Internacional player is expected to fill the void of Lee Sang-ho, who recently signed with Seoul's biggest rival, the Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
