SEOUL, April 7 (Yonhap) -- A Seoul court has approved prosecutors' request to extend the detention of former President Park Geun-hye for further questioning over a corruption scandal, prosecutors' office said Friday.

The decision by the Seoul Central District Court extends Park's detention at the detention house in Uiwang, south of Seoul, to April 19.

The move came as prosecutors are struggling to get meaningful testimony from Park over the corruption scandal for an indictment.

Park was arrested late March in connection with the corruption scandal that led to her removal from office.

Park faces charges of colluding with her confidante Choi Soon-sil to extort money from conglomerates, including bribes from Samsung Group. She is also accused of involvement in blacklisting cultural figures deemed critical of her policies and prohibiting government agencies from providing financial support to them.

Still, Park is said to have denied any wrongdoing during questioning.
