KT unveils 'all-in-one' payment device
SEOUL, June 13 (Yonhap) -- KT Corp., South Korea's No. 2 mobile carrier, unveiled a new payment platform on Tuesday which bundles a variety of payment tools into a single credit card-shaped device.
KT said a total of 21 payment tools such as credit card, debit card and membership card are incorporated into the CLiP CARD, and the holder can use it at offline stores as well as for mobile payments.
The 1.3-inch display on the card also illustrates bar codes and specific credit cards, according to KT. The company said the device is connected to its mobile wallet service, CLiP, as well.
The mobile carrier said it will expand partnerships with more credit card firms going forward. Currently, BC Card, Lotte Card and Hana Card are run on the device, KT said.
